How's My Driving

Please comment here with questions, comments, and concerns regarding the way I portray Hollom.

Critique is more than welcome, but it is best if offered with examples of what I'm doing wrong and suggestions on how to improve. I may not always agree and/or take the advice, but it will all be noted.

IP screening off, anon allowed. All comments screened.

Based on the nature of his canon, tags from Hollom may contain mentions of suicide.

I know this is not an easy subject for a lot of people, so if you would prefer Hollom not tag your character because of this, please comment here with a list of character you play, and I will do my absolute best to avoid tagging you, especially under circumstances where the mentions might come up.

If I accidentally tag you anyway, I am very, very sorry. Let me know, and I will remove my comment instantly.

[For once, Jonathan Hollom is not hidden away in his room at House Seven. He is, instead, in a small room in the library, having preferred the privacy of it rather than the log cabin rec center. It's a quiet little nook, and he's affixed a cross on the wall. Just a small thing he found at the item shop. And he's gathered a few different versions of the Christian Bible he found for a shelf in there.

Simply to have them immediately on hand should someone want one.

Rather than immediately taking to writing his sermon, he speaks into the journal for the first time.]

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thought of--

[No. His voice is too shaky. He does not trust himself.

So he takes up his pen.]

Sermon time again, Luceti. )

[And after a pause, he writes something more. It's risky. He's still frightened of accepting this role, but... It's worth saying.]

If anyone should wish to speak to me regarding the Lord's Word, I shall offer what conversation I can and what guidance I may, should you wish it. I have borrowed a small corner of the library, the southeast one, for my purposes.

J. Hollom

[Housemates, he'll be home in a few hours to make dinner.]

[The handwriting, by this point, may well be familiar, and Jonathan Hollom can be found in his room at House Seven, having seen dinner served and eaten (and having had a bit himself, though he'll likely venture down for a larger meal of it later, after he's sure the others have eatn their fill) a short time ago.]

Someday I will do a post for him that is NOT a sermon. But that day is not today. )

[Once again, Jonathan Hollom has taken up his pen to write a sermon, tucked away in his room in House Seven.]

[The temperature outside has dropped dramatically, and that means Jonathan Hollom finds it perfect weather to make stew.

The supplies for it are still on the counter, organized but spread out, and a pot is on the stove, simmering. The dish is a bit Irish... but he doubts his housemates will mind. Pieces of lamb have been seasoned and added to vegetables in the pot.

He's nearly done preparing it-- only five or six hours of staying on the stove to finish it off. And so he can keep an eye on it (once the mess from preparing it is cleaned), he has brought his Bible and notes on another not-quite-sermon he's prepared. It's something to occupy him, nothing more.

He has his Journal out as well and, between stirring the stew again and putting away the supplies, he writes a quick message.]

A very generous group of young ladies has allowed me to stay in their home. In return, I am trying to make myself useful, particularly by providing them with meals.

I would be obliged if anyone had recipies they might share.

Jonathan

[It seems only polite to sign his name, and... nearly everyone in those house had insisted on being called by their Christian name.]
awhitecrow: (Pray for the lost)
[The words are written carefully, and he takes his time in penning it all.

Jonathan Hollom writes from the safety of the room he is staying in at House Seven. Like a few days ago-- and every day after-- he made breakfast for the women of the house early in the morning, covered it to keep it warm and to prevent anything from getting into it, then retreated back to his room.]
